Most nouns in English form their plural by simply adding -s or -es (like cat → cats or box → boxes). However, some nouns are different. These are called irregular plural nouns.
Irregular plural nouns do not follow the usual rules. Instead of adding -s or -es, they may:
- Change their spelling (man → men, foot → feet)
- Change completely (mouse → mice, child → children)
- Stay the same (sheep → sheep, deer → deer)
Because they don’t follow a pattern, irregular plurals must be memorized and practiced.
In this worksheet, you will learn to recognize and use irregular plural nouns correctly. Pay close attention to how each word changes from singular to plural!
