CVC Short A Vowel Sound Flashcards

CVC Words are three letter words that follow a consonant-vowel-consonant pattern. CVC words are the simplest words for emerging readers to decode by blending the three sounds together.

Here are some FLASHCARDS which can be useful in teaching reading CVC’s particularly words with short /a/ vowel sounds. This set of flashcards include -ag, -ad, -am, -ap, and -ar CVC word families.

1. -at ending – rat, cat, fat, bat, hat, mat
2. -ag ending – bag, tag, lag, rag, sag, wag
3. -ap ending – cap, gap, lap, nap, tap, map
4. -ar ending – car, bar, far
